Christy Finalists 2020 Giveaway

We’re thrilled by the announcement today of the 2020 Christy Award finalists for excellence in Christian fiction, and are especially excited to announce that seven Bethany House titles are among them.

All are deserving of the honor, and we’ll be cheering their authors on next month when the winners are revealed (you can sign up for the free webcast here).

We decided it would be fun to hold a giveaway and will chose seven winners from the comments on this post. Each randomly-chosen winner can name one of the nominated books to receive as a prize (both Intrigue a la Mode and A Flood of Love are in the print collection Serving Up Love). To enter, just comment with your answer to this question: describe your ideal fancy apparel, worthy of a red-carpet event, whether you actually own it or not.

  1. One of those fox stoles where the mouth actually bites the tail as the closure. Faux, of course, but it needs to look like the ones our grandmothers (great-grandmothers?) wore! And I’ll probably wear elbow length black gloves with that. And pearls. And a black hat with a smidge of netting over my eyes. Man, this is WAY easier than actually shopping for an outfit.

    • My book choice would be either “The Number of Love” or “Cry of the Raven” since I have read the other books. Much deserved awards for all these novels!!

My outfit would be a Regency style gown, probably sapphire blue with a matching reticule sparkling with glass beads. I’d have a jaunty hat with feathers and the latest hairstyle for the period.

Thank you for the giveaway chance!

    • It would have to be my fav go to color. Black is classic You can choose any color to accent. I love the color garnet. So I would choose garnet jewelry necklace, bracelet and earrings. I always have a classic black dressy dress on hand. Either book would be appreciated.

  2. Floor length organza with a satin top. Probably in gunmetal gray. Dangly earrings are a must. And heels I can barely walk in.

  3. I would choose a black pants suit with wide legs and a jacket that is cut to drape my figure and somehow give me an appearance of a very small waist. 🙂 Under the jacket I would wear a camisole that is cut just low enough to highlight my cultured pearls and my silver chains. A couple of rings for bling and dangly silver pearl earrings. Black stiletto heels, if I can stay on my feet!

  4. It would be a Regency style dress, with an empire waist and long A-line skirt, and a pair of comfortable flats to go with it.

  5. A royal blue satin ball gown with a chiffon overlay on the skirt and a delicate lace in the bodice. Probably a fancy updo for my hair as well

  6. My comment went under someone else’s comment, sorry! Here’s what I said:

  7. A long-sleeved gem-tone blue dress that hits just below the knees in front and calf-length (almost ankle) in back. V- neck to show off my gorgeous diamond necklace which coordinates with my diamond earrings. Silver strappy sandals. Hair is upswept and held in place with dainty diamond pins

  8. A dress with long, flowy sleeves, a scooped neckline, and a swishy, flowy hem. Probably either red or white. Very fairy-tale like, with small, delicate embellishments.

  9. I left my comment on FB for,the giveaway! Oops! Definitely a 1940s look for Those Waves with Victory rolls, sophisticated dress, great shoes, and maybe a (faux) fur stole! On your Revells side is The Land Beneath Us, also 1940s!

  10. Congratulations to all the finalists!!! 🥰📚 Perfect red-carpet event dress for me would be a halter or thin straps, red, fitted on top, flared & flowing down…with plenty of sparkle.💃

  11. Thanks for the giveaway! I would want a classic gown, long and flowing with lace on the bodice. Sleeves and higher neck are a must!

  12. It is to be a bright red ball gown without sleeves and scooped neckline. A diamond necklace and chandelier earrings as accessories.

  13. I’d wear a floor length gown in a color on the blue spectrum, or I’d reuse my senior prom dress, which is pale purple with gray sparkle decal on the skirt and bodice, plus a waistline with patterned silver rhinestones.

  14. The books selection is top notch…congratulations to the nominees! I don’t own it, but I’d love to wear something sparkly and striking…maybe burgundy or sapphire, with matching jewelry (because I have so little—a girl’s gotta dream). I’m looking forward to when I can do a dress like that justice!

  15. Something makes me look good and helps hide the fat. Would like something in lavendar and pink but not bright colors.

  16. I have not read “Echoes Among the Stones” or “Sweet on You” , so I would pick one of them.

I dress pretty simply, so I would wear a simple long dress… probably turquoise, maybe shimmery… with dangly earrings, a couple of bracelets, maybe a long necklace, and some strappy high heels that I’d have to practice wearing before so I don’t fall on my face.

    Thanks for having this giveaway!

  17. I love your “clean” romances. It’s so easy to get caught up in the narrative of today that sex is love but love is truly so much more! Your books portray this and thank you for keeping the dream alive and bringing home the idea that love is worth waiting for!

  18. I would make my own dress. Gradient sparkling blue overlay, with navy at the top turning to a nearly sky blue at the hem. It would have a high halter neckline, and smooth tailored bodice with a narrow self fabric sash at the waist, and a full gathered skirt.

I’d very much love to read “the Number of Love” but a lot of these will for sure end up on my wishlist!

  19. I’m just here to say, “Are you kidding me? I’m a finalist?”

And I’d be yelling that on the red carpet while wearing a red dress like Scarlett O’Hara wore to Ashley Wilkes’s birthday party.

  20. I would love a fitted long red sequin dress with long sleeves complete with an emerald choker, emerald tear drop earrings, black heals, and black sequined clutch. I would have my long hair curled and pinned to the top of my head with romantic pieces falling out and dramatic make-up.

  21. I’ve seen what most wear and I definitely want something beautiful like theirs but MUCH more modest and discreet. With sleeves and a higher neck and no slits up the side lol. But probably sparkly and black. I would think with a small train, too!

  22. Are burgundy sweaters allowed? Haha, that’s all I ever want to wear. Maybe I could wear a long, soft burgundy-colored dress. It would be nice to wear something that doesn’t cut too low in the front or back so I wouldn’t have to also wear a cami underneath. Not tight around the hips, maybe with matching burgundy lace accents over the top or over the skirt? Sorry, I’m not very good at picking out fancy clothes… But I love reading!

  23. A dress that swishes every time I walk, is lacy, floor length, light blue, and A-line in shape. It is complete with sparkling, dainty jewelry and elegant heels to match! Do I own it? Haha, hopefully one day!! 🙂

  24. Probably a mid calf length black gown that isn’t puffy, with longer sleeves and not form fitting but not very voluminous.

  25. My ideal fancy apparel would be a floor length burgundy dress with a semi full skirt, puff sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Also lace accents on the bodice. I’d wear it with black medium high heels and gold jewelry.

  26. I would love to wear any of the gowns that the actresses wore on The Women, the Joan Crawford version. Or something Audrey Hepburn would have worn because she was always a classy lady.

  27. The Number of Love…
I would wear the dress I wore to my daughter’s wedding…it was classy and so comfortable…unusual in dressy clothing. Black lace over nude fabric. high neckline, sleeveless with strappy back and small train.

  28. My Dream fancy apparel would be a beautiful blue printed long dress with a full skirt and short train in the back. It would have a subtle scoop neck perfect for a string of pearls. It would be sleeveless and have a shawl to match. When I think of a dress like this I think of the 50’s and the beautiful, classy, lady like gowns they wore that made you feel like a princess,

  29. I am resubmitting my reply since I didn’t catch the misspelled words before I hit “post comment”.

My ideal fancy apparel would be a gown like the titled ladies wore centuries ago. Bright blue with diamond clasps at the shoulder and a thin diamond studded belt around the waist. Simple, but elegant.

  30. Midnight blue floor-length slip-dress with short, 3/4 sleeve jacket accented with glass beads and self-colored embroidery. Let the party begin!

  31. Vintage reproduction of a 1960’s evening gown, high cut neckline that sits wide on the shoulders, probably in emerald green. Long black gloves, black earrings, cat-eye eyeliner, and red lipstick.

  32. It would have to be my fav go to color. Black is classic You can choose any color to accent. I love the color garnet. So I would choose garnet jewelry necklace, bracelet and earrings. I always have a classic black dressy dress on hand.

  33. Noth.ing too showy. Probably tea length fit an flare lace on bodice and arms, which should be half sleeves – not low cut. Teal, red or spring violet

  34. Nothing too showy. Probably tea length fit and flare lace on bodice and arms, which should be half sleeves – not low cut. Teal, red or spring violet

  35. I’d want something like Rose wears in the Titanic movie…maybe the beaded red dress! I don’t have anything like that.
