Christy Award Finalist Giveaway

Next month, it’s time for the Christy Awards in Nashville! You can see all of the fantastic finalists here, or on the Christy Awards Instagram account, but here at Bethany House, we like to celebrate upcoming awards with a giveaway of our finalists for readers who might not be able to walk down the red carpet and join the celebration. (Although you should come some year…it’s really fun!)

Here are the Bethany House award finalists and their books:

Falling for You by Becky Wade

Shelter of the Most High by Connilyn Cossette

A Defense of Honor by Kristi Ann Hunter

Mind Games by Nancy Mehl

The Christmas Heirloom – finalist novellas are A Shot at Love by Sarah Loudin Thomas and Legacy of Love by Kristi Ann Hunter

The Mark of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse

The Wounded Shadow by Patrick W. Carr

We’re giving away one of each of these books to our readers! Winners will be randomly chosen on Monday, October 28 and contacted via email.

To enter, just do two things: make sure you’ve followed this blog, and then comment with an answer to this question: if you could create a fake fiction award (like “Best Opening Line” or “Top Books with Dogs on the Cover”), what would it be?

  1. How about the “Best Tear-Jerker Award”? I love stories that make me cry. (I’m imagining the award could either be something silly like an engraved box of tissues – obviously not the usual cardboard type – or some sort of painting of Jesus wrapping his arms around a writer hunched over her desk, face buried in her hands as she’s poured out her heart to touch others.) I’d love to receive this award. Only I’m sure I would cry too much to speak.

Thanks for the opportunity to enter this giveaway!

    • Most beautiful cover award? Seriously, there’s some out there that I just want to stare at for hours! 🙂

Thank you for the giveaway chance! I’m following this blog.

  2. This posted in the wrong place. It went as a reply to someone else, so sorry! Here’s my answer:

Thank you for the giveaway chance! I’m following this blog.

  3. Best use of similes and metaphors! There are some really original ones out there and I love the creative ones that really hit the mark!

  4. Best inspirational plot and/or best couple

I love reading the romance but I love the lessons and the encouraging parts in these types of books too!

  5. I think I’m going with “Swooniest Romantic Hero” and “Best Kissing” Awards…and I’m pretty sure I know what books/authors I would’ve award those to this year!

  6. I love the other award ideas mentioned above!! “Funniest/Wittiest Character” award, “Should be made into a Movie” award, “Best Awkward Moment” award…the possibilities are endless. 😍😜😎

  7. The Most Realistic Hero Award 😂
I know we all love a good heart throb hero, but I like the down to earth ones that are more authentic/imperfect and don’t create unrealistic expectations. 😅

  8. The Silver Trumpets Award

Named for the line from The Lord of thhe Rings:
“Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?”

This is for the book which catches a glimpse of the beauty we all long for, but only a few can name. Not a theological call to heaven, but a book well written, which paints such a picture that the afterimages of beauty, of HOME, stay with us and echo in our souls.

  9. Best Dressed Cover Characters
(Or: Most Accurate Cover Models Based On/Using The Actual Character Description From the Actual Book They’re On The Cover Of. But that’s a bit of a mouthful, so we’ll stick with Best Dressed.)

  10. I think The Most Spiritually Uplifting book award would be good.🙂. I say this because before I discovered Christian books I struggled with finding clean books to read. I discovered Janette Oke’s book Love Comes Softly many years ago in an Eckerd’s drugstore on a round rack of books. I purchased it solely on the cover and went home and devoured the book. That one book touched my heart and led me to find many more Christian authors and has given me many hours of good, clean reading filling my hunger for God’s word in fiction and non-fiction. Bethany House has for many, many years been one of my favorite publishing companies.❤️

  11. Best author-created world. I love it when authors immerse me into their creative settings and worlds, whether they’re made up or real places.

  12. I do not have a twitter acct. i do have fb- can i follow on there?

    “Best Movie Line Reference”
Because my family always quotes movie lines.

  13. The Three Hanky Award for tear jerkers and those who make you laugh so hard you cry. Or The Most Memorable Line — I’m always reading lines to my hubby or other families members when I find the really great ones!

  14. Best Spiritual Content

The Stayin’ Alive award for a book that doesn’t have the best side character die….So basically a reward for authors who keep MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS ALIVE!!! 😉 XD

  15. Best Title with a Hidden/Double Meaning. (I wasn’t sure how to phrase this, but I’m referring to those books with titles that seem ordinary until you’re half way through, and realise that they actually carry a lot more significance to the story than you originally thought.)

  16. Best “Just one more chapter then I’ve got to go to sleep (but ends up being until the end of the book)” Plot
Thank you for offering this giveaway… I’m glad I don’t have to choose which one gets the Christy, I wouldn’t be able to pick one!
