Hello, readers!
As some of you regulars may know, we have an ongoing monthly series on the blog called “Ask Bethany House” where I take questions from readers about anything related to BHP, our authors, or book publishing in general.
So that I can plan ahead for 2018 posts, it’s time for me to request questions from you again! If you have a behind-the-scenes type of question, submit it here in our survey, and I’ll choose one per month to answer next year.
You can glance over past questions I’ve answered here, but I’m fine with a slightly different angle on an old question, or even a request for an updated answer to a question I already covered. (A lot can change in two years!)
And, to thank you for being such great question-asking fans, let’s have a giveaway! Next week, I’ll pick two random winners for an early copy of your choice of one our January 2018 books (Out of the Ashes by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse, A Song Unheard by Roseanna White, Judah’s Wife by Angela Hunt). Enter by commenting with an answer to this question: what is one book you read in 2017 that you really enjoyed?
Without a shadow of a doubt, Lisa Wingate’s new book- Before We Were Yours.
I have read so many great Bethany House books this year! A debut that really caught my attention was “The House on Foster Hill” by Jaime Jo Wright.
Well, I really, really liked A Name Unknown, so seeing A Song Unheard on your list is enough to make me drool. Thanks for the giveaway!
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
Do I have to pick just one? 🙂 If so, it would have to be “Short-Straw Bride” by Karen Witemeyer. Thanks for the giveaway.
Before We Were Yours is at the top of my list. A Name Unknown is on my nightstand, and based on the book bloggers I follow, I anticipate it will be a great read.
The book I really enjoyed reading in 2017 was These Healing Hills by Ann Gabhart. paulams49ATsbcglobalDOTnet
I really enjoyed The Illusionist’s Apprentice, A Name Unknown, True to You, The Captain’s Daughter, and everything Jen Turano published this year. Can’t wait for more great books from Bethany House next year! 🙂
I read the Snelling series this year. My girls left for college and I enjoyed the series in my newfound leisure time. Thank you
I really enjoyed Awaken by Priscilla Shrirer
Crown of Souls by Ronie Kendig. If I could pick a second, it’d be A Name Unknown by Roseanna White.
There were so many good books in 2017, but I would have to say that my very favorite read this year (so far) was Jen Turano’s After A Fashion. Every time I read one of her books, I find myself laughing out loud and I love that! Thanks for the giveaway!
I read a lot of good books this year! Going in a different vein from previous comments, the book that stands out the most to me from the ones I read in 2017 is nonfiction–“Searching for Sunday” by Rachel Held Evans. Though, “When the Roll is Called Pyonder” by Diane Zimmerman is a really close second–so funny!
I really liked True to You by Becky Wade.
Just one? 🙂

I loved Where We Belong by Lynn Austin!! It was amazing!
This is hard – read SO many. But because we just finished doing TREASURED GRACE by Tracie Peterson, I’ll choose that one. My book club liked it so much we will do the #2 and #3 in Jan. & Feb. My question would be “why don’t so many of the authors not include group. questions. We have active discussion, but it helps to get questions from ‘professional’ sources sometimes.
QUESTION: When will the new list for Dec. and 2018 be out?
Hello! My dad wrote a novel many years ago and all but finished it. He passed away in 2009, and my mom finally got around to writing his last chapter a couple of years ago. I would be interested in sending his book to publishers to review, but the problem is that there is no real electronic copy. Some of it is even in the old dot matrix format! I could get my hands on a hard copy, but they are very expensive to copy, and I already lost two of them in order to get a copyright. Could I just send a couple of chapters to a publisher, or do they generally require the whole thing? Thanks!
It is so hard to narrow down to one favorite in 2017. I always enjoy books written by Ann Gabhart, Mesu Andrews, Jody Hedlund, Jill Eileen Smith, Lynn Austin, to name a few. I enjoy reading different authors and each has their own unique writing style. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I loved reading The Breakdown by B.A. Paris this year.
